backstory
After a vision of ruin that came to her in a dream, Aki's heavily pregnant mother, M'rharu, and father, M'vhahke, both part of the Fist of Rhalgr, escape Ala Mhigo shortly before the Fist is slaughtered by Theodric. a free company known as the Gray Crow Irregulars intercepts them on the border to gridania and gives them safe haven as her mother goes into labour. aki is born just inside the gates to gridania, and is given the captain's last name so as to keep her safe from any hunting the remaining Fists.aki's parents began to assist with the gray crows, naming the rogue, Helgrim, as Aki's godfather. hearing of the subjugation of ala mhigo by the garleans, aki's father departs for ala mhigo, intent on saving as many of his kin as he can. after a year without word from him, aki's mother follows her love into the fray, leaving aki in helgrim's care. neither are heard from again.around the age of seven, aki experiences the echo for the first time and sees a vision of herself in the future on a battlefield. she begs her uncle to allow her to learn conjury. helgrim is stalwart in keeping his niece safe, until a robed figure that aki can never really remember the name or face of, offers her his soul stone if she was diligent in her studies and ensured she paid proper respect to the balance of aether. not wanting to become like one of those at amdapor, aki begins to slowly learn conjury by way of books and study, making sure she is very careful of the balance of aether in the areas she works.when aki is 17, the Irregulars are called upon to assist at the battle of carteneau. all aki remembers from this period is a large flash of light and now only a handful of aunts and uncles returning from the battlefield. helgrim gifts her the robed figure's soul stone, but never explains where he got it from.Once she's of age, and ensuring that the now retired Irregulars are taken care of, Aki sets off to Gridania to become an adventurer.Through the years, she trains to be a healer on the battlefield, closely watched by Kan-e-senna to ensure she is not using the white mage soul stone for evil. she does contract work for the twin adder, and when she hears word of the scions hiring healers, she offers herself for contract work there as well.through these contracts, she ends up working in various places across eorzea, and becomes quite the well-traveled adventurer. her eyes on the horizon, she seeks to travel to every corner of the map.
